Who we are
Farmers Alliance Against Poverty (FAAP) is a membership Association of
farmers, Traders Artisans, craftsmen and other categories of the rural
and urban poor. It was formed in 1998 to provide both financial and technical
services to the members for the improvement of their enterprises toward
a better income generation.
Mission
To create awareness about poverty and strengthen the spirit of togetherness
in the people towards the utilization of the existing resources for economically
productive and sustainable enterprise, yielding self-sufficiency and freedom
from poverty.
History
FAAP started in 1998 with 10 members as a multipurpose credit society.
It later developed into a credit union admitting groups and societies
to form a virile organization with poverty eradication as its focus. FAAP
presently has over 18000 members in 14 states of Nigeria out of which
about 84% are women.
Our Vision
To build a strong micro finance institution sufficiently equipped for
the empowerment of the poor for wealth creation and to lay a good foundation
for a sustainable and profitable economic activity for total poverty eradication.
Team
FAAP is been managed by a team of experienced staff with different professional
background and training. They execute and supervise all the programs of
FAAP. Their background and training include Agriculture, Economics, Banking
and Finance, Engineering, computer and Statistics, Business Management
and Administration.
Products / Services
FAAP offers a wide range of micro finance products to meet the demand
of its various members and clients. These could be broadly differentiated
into:
- Working capital
- Agric loan
- Micro industrial loan
FAAP also renders a lot of services to its direct members, affiliates,
and others.
Such services include:
- Training (Capital Building)
- Mobilization
- Loan disbursement/recovery
- Project monitoring/appraisal
- Business plans etc
Recruitment/membership
Membership is open to all categories of the people with no discrimination
whatsoever to gender, ethnicity, religions inclination or political affiliation.
Interested persons, groups or societies are admitted through the Areas.
